About the Role

The Activities Assistant supports the Director of Activities in planning, organizing, developing, and directing quality activities for patients. The role ensures that the recreational, physical, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of each patient are met in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Prior experience with geriatrics preferred
  • Valid driver’s license in current State with a satisfactory driving record per Life Care standards
  • Demonstrated proficiency in arts, crafts, or music is preferred
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities
  • Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Proficiency in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with associates, vendors, and others
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information
  • Understanding and adherence to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care’s Code of Conduct

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs (including entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education)
  • Appropriately and descriptively chart patient progress and behavior
  • Escort patients to and from activities
  • Make regular in-room visits to patients uninterested or unable to participate in group activities
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
