About the role
Strabane Woods of Washington is an assisted living community within the UPMC Senior Communities managed by Presbyterian SeniorCare Network. The Activities and Lifestyle Engagement Assistant assists in conducting and developing the Lifestyle Engagement Program for residents, focusing on the four pillars of successful aging: Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, and Social. This role embraces a person-centered philosophy to foster positive relationships with residents, family members, and team members.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing the Lifestyle Engagement Program for residents.
- Create purposeful programming that enhances the four pillars of successful aging (Spiritual, Intellectual, Physical, and Social).
- Demonstrate and apply a person-centered philosophy in daily interactions.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, family members, and team members.
- Engage residents in activities related to arts, crafts, music, and recreation.
- Work independently and adapt to varied daily tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred from an accredited college or technical school.
- Minimum of one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in programming with older adults in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Experience in memory care (dementia or Alzheimer’s) preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with residents, families, and team members.
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and multitask effectively.
- Knowledge, training, or interests in arts, crafts, music, and recreational activities strongly preferred.
- Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
Pay
Starting pay ranges from $16.00/hour to $19.00/hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
Part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Monday through Friday during daylight hours, with occasional evening and weekend hours.
