Job Summary
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs the following duties listed and others as required to assure quality of life for the residents.
- Encourages residents to achieve their highest level of psycho-social interaction through planned activities programs and other interventions.
- Implements individual interventions as outlined in the residents' plan of care under the direction of the Activity Director.
- Completes assigned residents' activity assessments, care plans, discharge surveys, documentation, and other record-keeping tasks under the direct supervision of the Activity Director.
- Runs daily activity programs, transports residents to and from the activity, assists resident with voting, delivers monthly newsletters and calendars to resident rooms, charts in POC, sends alerts, and charts in Behavior Log.
- Reports to the Activity Director when needed.
- Completes inservices and continues education programs when assigned.
- Assists in resident dining, lunch and dinner meals, in-services family members and volunteers on using the van, assists residents in facility van to doctor's appointments, responsible for making signs, brochures, newsletters, thank you notes, and other computer projects, decorates for holidays, plans crafts residents can assist with, buys or orders supplies as needed, under the direct supervision of the Activity Director.
- Checks emails daily, feeds fish as needed and documents, responsible for maintaining established activity standards and policies of the facility, responsible for meeting federal and state requirements under the direct supervision of the Activity Director, responsible to keep the working area clean, orderly, safe, and in good working order, reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunction to the Director.
- Performs other duties as required by the Activity Director.
Qualifications
- Must have a genuine interest in geriatrics and assuring quality activities for residents.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes in routine.
Working Conditions
- Nursing home setting.
- Lifting up to 25 lbs. when needed and have the ability to transfer residents on outings.
- Work in a clean, well-lighted, and ventilated area.
- On feet most of the day.
- Working with residents throughout the day.
- Occasional field trips in and out of doors.
