Citizens Health is recruiting an activities aide to work full-time at Prairies Senior, our long-term care facility, assisting with the planning and implementation of the activities program for our residents. Our mission is enhancing the lives of those we serve.

Citizens Health is a community-based, private, not-for-profit organization comprising:

  • Citizens Medical Center – a 25-bed critical access hospital
  • Family Center for Health Care – an outpatient rural health clinic
  • Prairie Senior – a skilled nursing facility
  • Citizens Clubhouse – an onsite childcare center for children 6 weeks to school age
  • Citizens Medical Equipment – durable medical equipment business
  • Palace Drug Store – outpatient pharmacy

About the role

Location: 1625 S Franklin Ave, Colby, KS. Reports to the Social Service Director.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage and motivate individual residents to participate in recreational, religious, intellectual, and occupational activities to promote engagement and independence.
  • Complete timely record keeping in accordance with current state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the activities program for residents at Prairie Senior.
  • Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Provide input for resident assessments and care plans.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • CNA certification or willingness to complete training.
  • Kansas Activity/Social Certificate or reciprocal state-approved training preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards and react calmly in all situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Clear communication skills.

Working Conditions

  • Well-lighted, well-ventilated facility and office environment.
  • Subject to numerous interruptions and occasional stressful situations.

Physical Demands

  • Extended periods of standing.
  • Must be able to assist with the transportation of residents to activities.
  • Capable of assisting with residents’ activities of daily living (ADLs).

Schedule

Full-time position, Sunday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
