Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center is a 121-bed skilled nursing facility with private and semi-private rooms located in Nanticoke, PA. About the role
We are seeking a dynamic, full-time Activities Aide for the day shift. This role requires the ability to assist in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing the activity program under the supervision of the Activity Coordinator and Activity Assistant. Effective verbal and written English communication is essential. The position involves frequent bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting; corrected vision and hearing to normal range; and the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing the activities program.
- Meet with the Activities Director, staff, and residents for planning activities.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility and network with outside community agencies.
- Assist in the development of, and participation in, regularly scheduled in-service training programs.
- Assist in the arrangement and escort of residents with field trips whenever necessary.
- Assist in the recording and maintaining records of resident’s participation in activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to assure residents' rights are protected.
- Assist with the Volunteer Program.
- Assist the Activity Director with MDS, care plans, and the organization of the Activity Department.
- Report any changes in the resident’s condition immediately to the Nursing Department.
- Report all incidents/accidents immediately.
- Assist with outside activities and groups for the residents.
- Recommend to the Director of Activities the equipment and supply needs of the department.
- Distribute mail/periodicals to residents.
- Conduct the scheduled Activity programs in a timely manner according to the Monthly Activity Calendar provided by the assistant or director.
- Assist residents to and from the area where the scheduled activity is held.
- Assist with Resident Council and concerns.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in the recreation field preferred.
