Auditions

Three days of auditions for two great plays! Come to any one day. You do not need to make an appointment—just show up!

Dress Code

Dress to move—try to avoid slippers or heels.

Instrument Carrying

If you play an instrument (and it’s portable), please bring it.

Video Auditions

Note: no experience necessary! We believe the best way to engage with Shakespeare is to perform it, so we welcome beginners. No guarantee you will be cast, but it does happen.

  • Fill out an audition form. (Linked below if you want to prepare in advance, but you can always fill one out when you arrive.)
  • We’ll take a photo of you for reference. Don’t worry, we won’t share it. You do not need to bring a headshot.
  • We’ll introduce ourselves and tell you a bit about the plays then lead a couple of warm-up games. These are icebreakers, but they’re also part of the audition process. We’re looking to see how well you listen and follow directions, among other things.
  • The rest of auditions will be “lukewarm” readings from the sides. Pick something and prepare (with partners if appropriate). We’ll call people in the order that they let us know they’re ready.
  • Feel free to choose whatever side you like best, whether the role is “appropriate” for you or not.
  • You can leave any time after you’ve read, or stick around and read again. We’d like everyone to read once before we read anyone twice. If you have to leave early, please let us know before you go, and definitely let us know if you’re not available for callbacks.

Sides for Julius Caesar (pdf)

Play Selection

TBA You’re auditioning for both plays (unless you specify otherwise).

  • If you’re only interested in one play (or a particular part in one play), you can indicate that on your audition form.
  • Rehearsal venue, production schedule, language and content may, understandably, factor into your preferences.

Preparation

  • Make sure you understand who you are, what you’re saying and why you’re saying it. If you’re not sure, ask (no shame).
  • We’ll immediately have you read again with an adjustment but the first time through is all you.
  • Make a strong choice.
