Acrylic Operator

About the role

As an Acrylic Operator, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, driving excellence in filtering, manufacturing, packaging, and shipping of our finished products.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently filter finished latex from reactors to storage tanks by operating machinery and systems according to SOPs, verifying quality and quantity requirements, and documenting results in computer systems.
• Package and ship customer bulk orders, including calculations for correct tanker input/output, inspecting the tanker, taking proper samples, and completing tickets and bills of lading.
• Package and ship drum orders, including proper sampling, labeling, completion of packing lists and bills of lading, and safe forklift operation.
• Select and use pumps, lines, hoses, and filtration equipment, including inspection, cleaning, and reporting maintenance needs to the Team Leader.
• Perform daily checks and maintenance of the scrubber system, including sampling, draining knock-out pots, adjusting flows, changing solutions, and recording QC results in the log book.
• Store raw materials and finished products in an organized and safe manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and warehouse.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous experience as an operator in chemical manufacturing is preferred but not required.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Ability to lift 55 lb. bags and climb stairs and ladders as part of job duties.
• Medically fit to wear a negative pressure respirator.
• Basic math skills, reading comprehension, and ability to communicate effectively with others.
• Must satisfactorily complete all safety training courses as offered by management.

Work Environment

• Located in Gastonia, NC, about 30 miles west of downtown Charlotte, near the South Carolina border.
• Site employs approximately 75 full-time employees and is part of the Advanced Materials division, producing liquid acrylic polymer emulsion for latex or coatings applications.
• Work involves standing, walking, or operating equipment for extended periods.
• Work setting includes a lab or manufacturing environment with appropriate PPE provided.
• Use of computers and digital tools in an office or hybrid environment.
• Occasional lifting or movement of materials.
• Strict adherence to rigorous safety protocols and ergonomic standards.
