About the role
This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. The selectee must meet position requirements for Contracting Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement overall strategic plans and objectives.
- Make changes in organizational structure and functional alignment, balancing workload among subordinate elements to increase operational effectiveness.
- Participate in conferences and panels with, or conduct briefings to higher HQ officials, other government agencies, and IMCOM organizations.
- Perform the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties, including supporting the Command's Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program.
- Evaluate subordinate supervisors or leaders and serve as the reviewing official on evaluations of nonsupervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors.
- Make decisions on non-routine, costly, or controversial training needs and training requests related to employees of the unit.
- Provide authoritative advice to the Director and the Command concerning matters of fundamental significance in establishing mission objectives, overall program goals, and managing highly complex and significantly important acquisition projects.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position.

Qualifications
Basic Requirement for Acquisition Manager:
- One year of specialized experience which includes:
- Managing multi-functional acquisition portfolios to orchestrate installation services acquisition programs.
- Directing enterprise acquisition policy formulation governing agency organizational restructuring initiatives.
- Influencing executive leadership consensus establishing strategic agency program goals.
- This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).

- This position requires a 1-year probationary period during which the agency evaluates fitness and whether continued employment advances the public interest.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
- One-year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- This is a 14 Career Field position.
- Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.
- May require overtime work.
- Situational telework may be authorized by a supervisor on a case-by-case basis.
