We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support billing and receivables operations for a transportation company in Lowell, Arkansas. This is a contract position suited for someone who is comfortable managing invoice activity, researching payment issues, and keeping financial records accurate in a fast-moving environment. The role works closely with internal teams as well as customers and vendors to help maintain smooth day-to-day accounting processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue customer invoices on a consistent schedule, verifying charges and supporting details before submission.
- Track open customer balances, apply incoming payments, and follow up on past-due accounts to support timely collections.
- Review vendor billing for accuracy, confirm required approvals are in place, and flag discrepancies for correction.
- Reconcile invoices with purchase orders, account records, and related documentation to ensure complete and accurate processing.
- Investigate billing questions and payment variances, partnering with internal departments to resolve issues efficiently.
- Maintain customer account information and contribute to recurring receivables reporting and cash activity updates.
- Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams regarding invoicing, payments, and account status.
- Follow established accounting controls, documentation standards, and departmental procedures while assisting with additional finance-related tasks as needed.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in accounts receivable, billing, accounts payable, accounting support, or a closely related area is preferred.
- Working knowledge of accounts receivable processes, billing functions, cash applications, collections, and cash activity tracking.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work accurately and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing demands in a busy operational setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience using accounting platforms, ERP tools, or transportation-related systems is considered an advantage.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
