About the role
The Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager oversees the organization's accounts receivable function, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation activities. This role leverages data analytics and AI-driven solutions to optimize cash flow, reduce outstanding receivables, and maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring compliance with company policies and financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Act as product owner for AR platforms and AI-powered tools, driving adoption of solutions to improve collections effectiveness, cash application efficiency, and customer experience.
- Evaluate and implement AI-enabled AR solutions to optimize DSO, automate collections workflows, and provide predictive insights into customer payment behavior.
- Ensure effective and efficient processing of accounts receivable functions, including customer billing, collections, customer portal data, cash application, customer credits and other activities related to accounts receivable.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all functions within the department.
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Negotiate with past due accounts and resolve all payment issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely turnaround on credit review process and oversee management of customer credit files.
- Lead and coach the team by actively completing collections, cash application, credit issuance, and other activities related to AR as needed.
- Review and prepare the AR aging for communication with the AR team, internal departments and external communications as needed.
- Maintain and update accurate financial records.
- Maintain cash receipts and refer accounts to collection agencies, if necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly hire and lead a team of Accounts Receivable professionals.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring as needed to achieve a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Conduct regular 1:1s to address performance, feedback and relationship building.
- Identify training and development needs within the team and facilitate as able.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent experience required.
- 4+ years of Accounts Receivable experience required.
- 2+ years of leadership experience preferred.
- Experience evaluating, implementing and utilizing AR Automation software preferred.
- Proven experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and analytical thinking, seeks to understand the how and why while driving results.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes and deliverables, reduce errors, streamline, and simplify.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize critical path responsibilities.
- Accountable and reliable, follows through on issues until resolved, provides two-way feedback.
- Good interpersonal skills; maintains effective working relationships.
- Understanding of 503B regulatory requirements, cGMP standards, and USP guidelines is a plus!
- Proficient written, verbal and oral English communication skills are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools including Outlook, Microsoft, and Excel.
