About the role
We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team in Louisville, Kentucky on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This position focuses on supporting receivables operations through invoicing, payment posting, and proactive follow-up with business customers. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment in resolving account issues, and the ability to keep records accurate in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage incoming customer payments by applying cash accurately and updating account records in a timely manner.
- Monitor outstanding balances, follow up with commercial clients on past-due invoices, and work toward prompt resolution of payment issues.
- Prepare and process billing activities while verifying invoice accuracy and supporting corrections when needed.
- Review receivable aging reports to identify collection priorities and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Investigate account discrepancies by coordinating with internal teams and customers to reconcile balances.
- Maintain organized documentation for transactions, correspondence, and collection efforts to support audit readiness.
- Assist with routine reporting related to receivables performance, cash activity, and open balances.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting accounts receivable processes in a detail-oriented business environment.
- Working knowledge of commercial collections and customer account follow-up practices.
- Ability to post cash receipts accurately and handle cash application tasks with strong attention to detail.
- Background in billing functions, including invoice review and issue resolution.
- Proficiency with accounting or ERP systems and standard Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a high-volume setting.
