About the role

The AR Accountant analyzes processes to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, oversees credit and collections to ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables, resolves issues, and maintains positive client relationships. This role collaborates with finance, sales, and customer service to support the organization’s financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Credit Management: Monitor customer accounts for potential credit risks and take preventive action.
  • Collections Oversight: Audit customer remittances at the invoice level. Identify sources of non-payment, short payments, or overpayments. Assist sales with pricing resolution and variances. Communicate findings to sales and AR management. Implement strategies for timely collection of outstanding invoices. Manage accounts receivable aging and prioritize collections for overdue accounts. Assist with payment plans or settlements as needed.
  • Customer Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated credit or collections issues. Maintain strong customer and sales relationships while enforcing payment terms. Collaborate with cash application, credit, and collections teams to address account discrepancies. Resolve disputes and discrepancies promptly.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate and analyze reports on accounts receivable performance, collections efficiency, and credit risk exposure. Provide regular updates to senior management on cash flow and key metrics. Identify trends and recommend improvements to credit and collections processes.
  • Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards. Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and reconciliations. Implement and monitor internal controls to mitigate risks.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Experience: 3+ years in credit and collections or accounts receivable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., VIP) and cash application software. Advanced knowledge of Excel and data-based financial reporting tools.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Ability to manage high-pressure situations and meet deadlines.
