PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise And Assist The Accounts Payable Function In Accumulating, reconciling and verifying vendor invoices and other statements to purchase orders and other accrual details.
  • Monitoring, processing and matching carrier invoices through TMW.
  • Accumulating, processing, and obtaining approval of vendor operating invoices through the Concur system.
  • Uploading carrier invoices and operating vendor invoices into GP from TMW and Concur.
  • Verifying and approving invoices in accordance with the Company’s approval limit matrix.
  • Ensuring weekly payments of vendors are prepared and processed.
  • Identifying discount opportunities, purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
  • Verifying validity of new vendors by federal ID numbers.
  • Ensuring outstanding obligations are credited upon payment.
  • Preparing Annual 1099 report and ensuring it is filed timely.
  • Aiding with accounting records and ledgers on a monthly basis related to accrued expense and accounts payable accruals.
  • Ensure key policies and procedures are documented to satisfy internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Manage and develop AP team member(s).

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma
  • 5 + years accounting experience, specifically in the accounts payable function.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in natural gas or energy and/or logistics/transportation industries preferred.
  • Sound understanding of and commitment to maintaining a system of internal controls.
  • Experience with TMW, Great Plains and Concur or similar financial software programs preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite specifically Excel.
  • Organizational ability to handle multiple projects and effectively prioritize work assigned to the accounting team.
  • Demonstrated ability able to work cooperatively and positively on cross-functional teams, supporting team and company goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Schedule

  • This is a full-time, exempt position with possible overtime as required by the business from our corporate headquarters in Houston.
