Responsibilities
- Perform advanced invoice review and processing, resolving atypical or complex discrepancies with minimal guidance.
- Lead the matching of invoices to purchase orders and receipts, identifying systemic issues and recommending process enhancements.
- Independently prepare and execute payment runs (checks, ACH, wires), ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Reconcile vendor statements involving complex accounts, proactively correcting issues and preventing recurring errors.
- Maintain high-quality, audit-ready AP records; mentor or guide colleagues in best practices.
- Serve as an escalation point for vendor and internal stakeholder inquiries, communicating complex issues clearly.
- Support month-end close by completing advanced reconciliations, analyzing AP trends, and identifying risks or bottlenecks.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, recommending changes that improve efficiency or reduce defects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Extensive experience in accounts payable, demonstrating advanced skills and expertise in AP processes.
- Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced understanding of accounting principles and AP workflows.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
- Ability to generate solutions for atypical or complex AP issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and guide less experienced team members.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and broader process implications.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Experience: Extensive experience in accounts payable, demonstrating advanced skills and expertise in AP processes.
- Licenses/Certifications: Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience is preferred.
