Accounts Payable Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced invoice review and processing, resolving atypical or complex discrepancies with minimal guidance.
  • Lead the matching of invoices to purchase orders and receipts, identifying systemic issues and recommending process enhancements.
  • Independently prepare and execute payment runs (checks, ACH, wires), ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Reconcile vendor statements involving complex accounts, proactively correcting issues and preventing recurring errors.
  • Maintain high-quality, audit-ready AP records; mentor or guide colleagues in best practices.
  • Serve as an escalation point for vendor and internal stakeholder inquiries, communicating complex issues clearly.
  • Support month-end close by completing advanced reconciliations, analyzing AP trends, and identifying risks or bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, recommending changes that improve efficiency or reduce defects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Extensive experience in accounts payable, demonstrating advanced skills and expertise in AP processes.
  • Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles and AP workflows.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Ability to generate solutions for atypical or complex AP issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and guide less experienced team members.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and broader process implications.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in accounts payable, demonstrating advanced skills and expertise in AP processes.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Prior leadership and/or supervisory experience is preferred.
