Accounts Payable Supervisor

About the role

This role supervises the accounts payable (AP) processing function within Intermountain Health (IH). It hires, trains, and supervises Payables Specialists, oversees invoice processing to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and IH policies, assigns and directs AP workflow, sets individual and workgroup goals, monitors accomplishments, and develops and maintains department job descriptions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise central AP processing.
• Advise the operations manager on expectations, qualifications, and job descriptions for Payables Specialists assigned to the processing functions.
• Assist with the hiring and training of Payables Specialists.
• Assist with the development and documentation of AP processes and provide related training material.
• Monitor metrics to ensure that operations maintain a high level of efficiency.
• Oversee resolution of issues in processing disbursements.
• Provide timely feedback and evaluations to staff to ensure the development of a high‑performing team.
• Strengthen controls and ensure adherence to policies.
• Implement corrections for deficiencies identified in disbursement‑related audits.
• Oversee gatekeeping function for internal controls policies and procedures.
• Maintain vigilance in detecting and preventing all types of fraud.
• Advise operations leadership on communication with other teams and departments.
