About the role

The Accounts Payable Specialist supports the Center for Human Services’ (CHS) mission by performing and coordinating accounting duties within the organization, in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper general ledger coding, obtain approval from relevant departments, and process invoices for payment in accounting software.
  • Ensure appropriate cost allocation of company expenses in the accounting software.
  • Process daily ACH and positive pay files for issued payments.
  • Review executed contracts to confirm accuracy of vendor billing prior to payment.
  • Review, approve, and post credit card transactions from MyCentralPay to the accounting software.
  • Review, approve, and post staff expense reimbursements from Paycom to the accounting software.
  • Research outstanding checks.
  • Prepare monthly reports, as assigned, by generating reports in NetSuite, Excel, and other applications.
  • Purchase supplies for the Finance department.
  • Maintain electronic vendor files and ensure accuracy and completeness of vendor records.
  • Participate in annual financial audits.
  • Assist and perform other duties and provide backup support as assigned.

Maintain Compliance

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of CHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure their correct application in financial statements preparation and to provide accurate responses to inquiries from CHS employees.
  • Complete training as required and seek technical training opportunities for applications specific to the business needs of the organization.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree (AA or AAS) in related field plus two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience to equal four years.
  • Intermediate Excel skills including the ability to combine and manipulate large sets of data.
  • Must provide proof of valid driver’s license and personal valid vehicle insurance.
  • Time management and organizational skills.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP platforms is preferred.

Schedule

Full-time (40 hrs/week), Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
