General Purpose of the Job
The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Finance department general accounting functions, including payroll and accounts payable activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with the Accounting Manager and the Human Resources Department on bi-weekly processing of payroll.
- Prepare payroll entries for the accounting system.
- Cook up backup for each payroll period with the HR department regarding time sheets and time worked for all staff.
- Provide reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on payroll activities.
- Prepare the required disability payment reports.
- Process accounts payable in the accounting system on a weekly basis.
- Be responsible for all approvals of the priority invoice listings.
- Enter invoices into the accounts payable system.
- Process payments per the weekly accounts payable disbursements protocol.
- Prepare reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on the Accounts Payable activity.
- Perform research on payors as needed and account histories.
- Enter journal entries into the accounting system relative to all expenses as required.
- Other general accounting functions.

Qualifications
- A successful candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
- Two years of experience in the health care environment is preferred.
