General Purpose of the Job

The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Finance department general accounting functions, including payroll and accounts payable activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the Accounting Manager and the Human Resources Department on bi-weekly processing of payroll.
  • Prepare payroll entries for the accounting system.
  • Cook up backup for each payroll period with the HR department regarding time sheets and time worked for all staff.
  • Provide reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on payroll activities.
  • Prepare the required disability payment reports.
  • Process accounts payable in the accounting system on a weekly basis.
  • Be responsible for all approvals of the priority invoice listings.
  • Enter invoices into the accounts payable system.
  • Process payments per the weekly accounts payable disbursements protocol.
  • Prepare reports as directed by the Accounting Manager on the Accounts Payable activity.
  • Perform research on payors as needed and account histories.
  • Enter journal entries into the accounting system relative to all expenses as required.
  • Other general accounting functions.

Qualifications

  • A successful candidate must possess a Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of experience in the health care environment is preferred.

Travel

This job may require minimal travel between clinic sites and/or business travel depending upon scheduling needs.
