Accounts Payable Lead

About the Role

The Accounts Payable Lead will oversee Accounts Payable operations at our Oskaloosa office, serving as the primary resource for the AP team to resolve complex transactions and ensure compliance with company policies. This role involves reviewing invoice entries, assisting with month-end close activities, performing account reconciliations, maintaining vendor relationships, and identifying process improvements to strengthen internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource for AP team members to investigate and resolve complex accounts payable issues, including vendor statements and AP Clearing items.
• Review and approve vendor invoice journals and payment batches for multiple companies.
• Act as a collaborative point of contact with external vendors and internal managers regarding payment status inquiries and exceptions to internal processes.
• Complete vendor credit applications, credit references, new vendor information forms, vendor audit requests, and sales tax certificates.
• Set up new vendors in the accounting system and collect required W-9s.
• Verify and set up ACH banking information for domestic and international vendors.
• Reconcile accounts and create month-end journal entries related to prepaid expenses and insurance.
• Evaluate processes and procedures and implement improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
• Two or more years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of GAAP, AP, AR, and General Ledger.
• Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer service skills.
