Accounts Examiner (Corpus Christi)
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking an Accounts Examiner I to join our team in Corpus Christi, Texas. As an Accounts Examiner I, you will perform entry-level accounts examination and auditing work, ensuring compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.

Responsibilities
- Examine and audit operating reports and financial accounting records to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
- Prepare audit reports of findings, outline discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
- Establish employment tax liability, open and close employer tax accounts, and ensure compliance with the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act (TUCA).
- Collect delinquent reports and taxes by contacting employers and reviewing audits forms for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Prepare employer quarterly reports or adjust as necessary and assist employers in preparing tax forms.
- Perform skip tracing techniques and investigations to recommend collection actions when appropriate.
- Communicate with employers, legislators, and state/federal agencies to provide information regarding TUCA and other state/federal laws and policies.
- Provide quality customer service through frequent telephone contact to resolve account problems, answer questions, and offer assistance.
- Organize a heavy workload to resolve concurrent assignments and meet deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One year of full-time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
- Acceptance into a TWC Internship or Apprenticeship will satisfy the minimum qualifications.
- Experience in accounting or auditing.
- Experience in investigations.
- Experience in collections.
- Experience with payroll records.
- Experience with financial records and statements.
- Experience in providing information regarding the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act or other state and federal laws and policies.
- Personal computer programs experience, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Public speaking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits
TWC offers a competitive salary of $3,446.00 per month, a Defined Retirement Benefit Plan, optional 401(k) and 457 accounts, medical insurance, paid time off, including vacation, sick, and family care leave, and additional benefits available through the Employee Resource System (ERS). The position involves up to 10% travel within the state of Texas and requires the routine operation of a personal vehicle.
