About the Role
With minimum supervision, perform the more difficult and complex accounting, financial and statistical record keeping in one or more of the district-wide accounting and bookkeeping systems; monitor and update Position Control.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or recognized equivalent.
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible and varied experience involving financial and statistical records maintenance or acceptable experience as an Account Technician II in the Lucia Mar Unified School District.
- Accurately operate a 10-key calculator by touch.
- Proficient use of Excel and use of computer terminal or personal computer requiring input and output of data.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of methods, practices and procedures of school district accounting, accounts payable or payroll record management; operation of manual and computer-assisted accounting and payroll record management systems; current office practices, procedures and techniques; organization and planning methods, techniques and practices.
- Ability to perform complex and technical accounting and payroll clerical functions; prepare, review and analyze accounting files, records, summaries and reports; perform double entry bookkeeping; make mathematical calculations and verify the results; monitor and update the Position Control system; effectively and efficiently operate office machines and equipment; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees and public.
- Supplementary courses in bookkeeping, office machines including computers and business office practices (desirable).
- Experience with QSS/QCC system operations (desirable).
- Previous experience monitoring a position control system, A/P or A/R (desirable).
- Strong reconciling skills (desirable).
Responsibilities
- Prepare and verify the accuracy and completeness of payroll related files, accounting records and reports.
- Work with a computer-based budget, accounts payable or payroll system; accounts receivable.
- Prepare system input data and analysis.
- Operate computers and other office machines and equipment.
- Make complex arithmetical calculations and verify computations.
- Monitor and update the district's Position Control system.
- Perform complex and technical fiscal record management operations related to one or more specialized accounting or payroll functions.
- Perform lead functions within specialized record management system, which include the preparation of technical and complex reports.
- Provide technical information to county, state and federal agencies.
- Provide information regarding routine legal mandates, policies, regulations and operational guidelines to district personnel.
- Perform other duties as required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Facility to hear and understand speech at normal levels and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
- Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
- Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate computer keyboard and other office machines used in Accounting and position control.
- Physical agility to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 5 pounds on a regular basis and up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Able to concentrate on a single task for up to two (2) hours at a time.
- Able to learn quickly and adapt to a variety of machinery, instructions, and task methods.
- Able to meet deadlines in terms of work assignment schedules.
- Interact daily in person with other members of the school staff and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and cooperative attitudes.
- Consistent attendance is required due to the time-urgent nature of duties and interdependence with other staff.
- Convey an understanding, patient attitude toward other staff, students, and parents.
- Maintain the privacy of confidential information.
Schedule
12 months (260 days) - 260 Day Work Year Calendar
Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Pay
Salary range: $4,357 to $5,567 monthly. Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience.
