ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN
About the role
The State of California is seeking an Accounting Technician to join the Employment Development Department (EDD). This position involves performing routine semi-professional program accounting work related to claims processing and benefit payment control activities, including fraud prevention and detection, establishment of overpayments, employer and claimant assistance, and maintenance of employer and claimant accounts.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine semi-professional program accounting work related to claims processing and benefit payment control activities.
- Utilizes a variety of databases to analyze information from Federal, State, and Departmental sources.
- Makes routine monetary eligibility determinations and adjustments as they relate to various Claims Processing and Benefit Payment control workload processes.
- Works closely with the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor) under close supervision.
- Adapts to frequent workload changes based on organizational priorities.
Requirements
This position requires a strong background in accounting and familiarity with Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Disability Insurance (DI) programs. Specific requirements include:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- One year of relevant experience in accounting or a related field.
- Knowledge of Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Disability Insurance (DI) programs.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Pay
