Under direct supervision of the Finance Manager, calculates, reconciles, and verifies financial transactions. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Responsibilities
- Receives, reviews, and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating financial transactions.
- Reconciles and processes daily credit card batches.
- Downloads daily bank transactions to verify wire and bank transfers are posted correctly.
- Ensures tax payments are made on time.
- Maintains and ensures tax payments are made on time and reconciles W2G tax deposits.
- Photocopies, collates, distributes, and files documents for the accountants.
- Prepares journal entries and bank reconciliations.
- Prepares outgoing correspondence, including emails, faxes, and memos; creates spreadsheets and enters information into databases to meet reporting requirements.
- Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
- Assists with month-end financial close as needed.
- Assists with year-end audit as needed.
- Handles all phone calls and inquiries from guests.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED plus two (2) years accounting or bookkeeping experience with (6) months computer-related work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the functions and structure of Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise.
- Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards.
- Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in English and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and filing systems and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds, team members, and officials.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently under stressful conditions, make solid decisions, and exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to meet strict timelines.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
- Skill in using computerized accounting software programs, office equipment including 10-key adding machine, and word-processing and spreadsheet programs; proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to walk; stand; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
- Some work is performed in a Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a moderate noise level.
- Evenings, graveyards, holidays, and/or weekend work may be required.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
