Accounting Technician 1, 2, or 3
About the role
The Southeast Health District is seeking a full-time, salaried Accounting Technician 1, 2, or 3 position based in Waycross, GA. The mission is to promote and protect the health of people in Southeast Georgia, working with individuals, families, and communities to enhance their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Performs professional accounting and financial support functions to ensure accurate processing, recording, and reporting of financial transactions.
- Maintains financial records, prepares and reconciles accounts, processes deposits and journal entries, and supports accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes, prepares financial reports and supporting documentation, monitors account balances and expenditures for compliance with budgets and funding requirements, and maintains accurate inventory records within the financial management system.
- Ensures financial documentation is complete, organized, and audit-ready; assists with internal and external audits; and responds to inquiries regarding financial transactions.
- Interprets and applies established accounting policies, procedures, and applicable regulations while maintaining strict confidentiality of financial information.
- Performs other related accounting and financial support duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Accounting Technician Trainee (FIT019) or position equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and one year of professional accounting experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Qualifications
