Accounting Systems Director

This role supports a multi-year technology development and implementation project, creating permanent openings to backfill leaders and subject matter experts in day-to-day accounting and finance activities. The Accounting Systems Director will lead teams responsible for overseeing the Oracle enterprise performance management (EPM) application and scheduling and running certain weekly and month-end Oracle enterprise resource planning (ERP) system processes. The role also involves cross-functional continual process improvement of business processes that involve technology usage and optimization.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development:
- Maintain prioritization and focus of teams to support both day-to-day responsibilities and longer-term organizational goals, including continual improvement initiatives.
- Build, inspire, and develop high-performing, resilient teams that achieve results with professionalism, collaboration, and trust.
- Ensure clarity in team roles, responsibilities, and expected results, with key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate outcomes.
- Identify and implement strategic initiatives and special projects across accounting and finance to aid teams in adopting and using technology within their business processes.
- Co-sponsor initiatives with relevant business process owners.
- Challenge business process owners to consider alternative ways of accomplishing objectives through technology or process optimization.
- Maintain team resilience through desktop procedures, cross-training, succession planning, and other tactics.
- Lead with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to consider diverse perspectives and innovative solutions.

- Support and oversee additional shared service functions that utilize technology as a core component of service delivery.
- System Processing Team:
- Utilize knowledge of HDR business processes, stakeholder needs, and system process dependencies to maintain quality control in alignment with business requirements.
- Maintain KPIs to demonstrate whether system processes occur accurately, timely, and in alignment with stakeholder needs.
- Proactively identify risks related to system processes and implement quality control checks, contingency plans, and process changes to mitigate these risks.
- Oversee month-end system processing and quality control checkpoints to ensure financial data is produced accurately, timely, and with clear communication to stakeholders.
- Utilize business acumen to oversee quality control through verification procedures.
- Prepare risk and contingency plans for system processing issues during month-end close or other critical periods.
- EPM:
- Oversee technical and functional support of Oracle EPM applications, including Planning and Budgeting (PBC), Profitability and Cost Management (PCM), Financial Close & Consolidation (FCC), Account Reconciliation System (ARC), Tax Reporting (TRC), and Enterprise Data Management (EDM).
- Utilize knowledge of HDR operations and accounting and finance processes to align team prioritization with long-term application sustainability and stakeholder needs.
- Maintain quality control by ensuring enhancements are developed with clear requirements, sufficient testing, and adequate communication and change management to support user adoption.
- Provide thought leadership, collaboration, and resource support for tools, data sets, technologies, and processes that utilize data from EPM applications, including Snowflake.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, accounting and finance, or a directly related field.
- At least 10 years of corporate accounting, public accounting, ERP processing and administration, internal audit, or other directly related experience.
- 5+ years managing teams, preferably managing managers with multiple direct reports.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Oracle Cloud ERP, Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Computing Professional (CPP), or similar designation, or a master’s degree.
- Proven ability to balance strategic concepts and leadership with consistent execution of tasks, procedures, and technological or business changes.
- Strong ability to prioritize competing deadlines and lead teams through high-volume close, reporting, and audit cycles.
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities, system changes, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify risks, evaluate alternatives, and escalate matters appropriately.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex accounting, system, or process matters to stakeholders with varying levels of technical and business acumen.
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand how accounting and system activities impact financial reporting, operational decisions, and stakeholder needs.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and build credibility with senior leaders, peers, managers, and cross-functional partners.

Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle EBS experience.
- Architecture/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry or similar professional services experience.
