Accounting Supervisor

Dallas, TX - hybrid work schedule: onsite during close (first 7 business days) then 1 day onsite per week after that.

About the role

Our client is a growing healthcare services organization with operations across multiple regions. The company is continuing to invest in its finance and accounting infrastructure and is seeking an experienced accounting professional who can provide leadership, improve processes, and bring greater efficiency to a high-volume accounting environment. The Accounting Supervisor will provide accounting leadership across multiple regions and serve as a key resource for a team of experienced Senior Accountants. The role focuses on being a technical and operational accounting resource who can make decisions, solve problems, and provide guidance to experienced team members. While the accounting entries themselves are generally not highly complex, the underlying volume, data management, allocation processes, and reconciliation requirements can be. Healthcare experience—particularly exposure to Medicare, Medicaid, and healthcare revenue—is highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a go-to accounting resource for Senior Accountants and other members of the finance and accounting organization.
• Provide guidance and direction to a team of experienced accountants supporting approximately six regions.
• Review and provide oversight of accounting activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and balance sheet accounts.
• Support a peer-review environment in which Senior Accountants review and approve one another's journal entries, with additional supervisory review as needed.
• Assist with BlackLine reconciliations and provide ad hoc review and support when other members of leadership are unavailable.
• Oversee accounting processes across a broad range of balance sheet accounts and ensure financial information is complete, accurate, and timely.
• Work with large volumes of financial and operational data and identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
• Own and improve revenue allocation and other allocation processes across multiple regions.
• Help implement a new payroll allocation system designed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of multiple accounting entries.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce reliance on legacy procedures.
• Work closely with Excel and other data tools to manipulate, analyze, reconcile, and organize large datasets.
• Challenge inefficient or outdated processes and provide thoughtful recommendations for better ways to accomplish the work.
• Partner with accounting leadership and branch/operational leadership to resolve issues and improve financial reporting.
• Help ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered on a timely basis.
• Provide strong analytical support through detailed financial reporting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Assist with accounts payable, bank reconciliations, cost accounting, journal entries, and other core accounting functions as needed.
• Support the continued development of accounting processes, systems, and internal controls as the organization grows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience within a mid-sized to large organization preferred.
• Healthcare accounting experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
• Understanding of Medicare and Medicaid is a significant plus.
• Healthcare revenue experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial reporting.
