Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Accounting Supervisor in our Boca Raton, Florida corporate office. Hybrid and remote work options from other U.S. locations such as Orlando, FL; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Kennesaw, GA; Overland Park, KS; Houston, TX; and Blue Bell, PA may be available at the company’s discretion.

About the role

In this role, you will supervise general accounting activities, maintain systems for accurate accounting of company resources, ensure timeliness and accuracy of transactions in the financial control system, and provide management reports as needed. You will report to the Manager of General Accounting and supervise other Staff Accountants.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review general accounting and bookkeeping records, including account analysis to compile a complete and accurate trial balance.
  • Prepare account analyses to document activity in selected general ledger accounts, including related adjusting entries for reconciliation.
  • Ensure staff maintain adequate files and documentation to support financial and project-related transactions, revenue, and cost allocations.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with the Company's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Review staff documentation for accuracy and completeness of financial and project-related information.
  • Perform internal reviews to verify the accuracy of the Company's general ledger accounts.
  • Oversee lease activity from agreement execution, monthly accounting adjustments, payment processing, and process procedure updates.
  • Supervise General Ledger Staff in planning, assigning, and directing work; interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, appraisals, and disciplinary actions; and resolving employee issues.
  • Perform special projects and related work as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience with up-to-date knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with project costing, financial statement analysis, accounting software, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex accounting regulations and business documents.
  • Ability to author well-written, organized policies, procedures, reports, and business correspondence.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, division) and calculations involving discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to technical and practical problems.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles, financial data, and financial reporting regulations.
  • Ability to handle complex interpersonal situations involving internal/external clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check due to access to confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with foreign currencies and related accounting processes.
