Accounting Specialist

About the role

The Accounting Specialist supports day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping and efficient processing of transactions. This role provides hands-on support in accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close activities, while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Record and maintain accurate financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activity
• Process vendor invoices by verifying accuracy, obtaining approvals, and ensuring timely payments
• Perform data entry and maintain financial records with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies
• Support month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Aid in accounts receivable activities, including monitoring aging and supporting collection follow-ups
• Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoices, payments, and account status
• Maintain organized filing systems to ensure documentation is audit-ready and compliant
• Provide support for internal and external audits by gathering and preparing required documentation
• Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other departments to ensure accuracy of financial data
• Identify and support process improvement opportunities within accounting workflows
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• You have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• You have at least 1 year of accounting, finance, or related experience (including internships or entry-level exposure)
• You have a basic understanding of accounting principles (accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations)
• You are proficient in Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, and reconciliation support)
• You have strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing
• You have the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a structured environment
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
• You have experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• You have exposure to month-end close processes (preferred)
• You have experience in a manufacturing or operational environment (preferred)

Pay

The listed salary range for this position is $25 to $35 per hour, but the actual package offered may vary depending on different factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation for this position would include other elements which include an annual nondiscretionary bonus.
