About the role

The Accounting Senior Analyst role is a hybrid position requiring two days a week in the office at the downtown Portland headquarters. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and supports various accounting functions within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a strong team environment and support the company’s commitment to safe work practices.
  • Participate in month-end close by recording journal entries for segment activity and accruals.
  • Analyze results in comparison to budget and prior periods, providing variance explanations to Management.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and perform SOX controls to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Compile specific information for the Company’s SEC financial statement disclosures.
  • Provide support for both internal and external audits and assist with regulatory filings as needed.
  • Manage the monthly gas reserves accounting process, working with a joint venture partner.
  • Support the annual audit of the investment and an annual reserve study, incorporating results into forecasts.
  • Prepare a monthly reporting package for Management for the North Mist Gas Storage Facility.
  • Work closely with the Rates team to develop annual forecasts of future costs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting and a CPA certificate are required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of applied accounting experience is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Experience using SAP or another general ledger or financial software system is strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the utility industry or a related business environment is preferred.
  • Experience with a reconciliation tool, such as Blackline, is preferred.

Qualifications
