Job Description and Duties

The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) is recruiting for an Accounting Officer (Specialist) to join our Accounting Departments Travel Unit. This position is under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor).

  • Independently perform professional accounting duties.
  • Audit and process reimbursement claims for travel and relocation expenses using the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal) and California Automated Travel Expense and Reimbursement System – Global (CalATERS).

Working Conditions

This position reports to the Allenby Building in Sacramento. A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California's in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management. The incumbent may also be required to travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.

  • The State’s Commute Programs provide bicycle, mass transit and vanpool incentives to eligible state employees.
  • The State’s mass transit incentive pays 100% of the transit pass up to the IRS maximum of $325 per month in 2025.
  • DSH-Sacramento is located in a 11 floor high rise building.

  • Moderate Experience with Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
