Accounting Manager - Finance Department

Responsibilities
- Responsible for Housing Centers and overall housing grant management, including financial and program reporting (monthly, quarterly, and applicable close-out). Other grants may be assigned as appropriate.
- Monitor actual financial results compared to budget and communicate to appropriate levels to prevent overspending.
- Analyze and forecast the current financial position to ensure proper budget compliance with funding sources and communicate results to relevant personnel.
- Review financial transactions (invoices, travel reports, personnel timesheet activity coding) for compliance with applicable financial, purchasing, and program policy requirements; initiate corrective action for non-compliant items.
- Coordinate and process requests from external auditors, including financial audits and program monitoring.
- Supervise, coach, and develop the financial liaison and support team.
- Manage general ledger functions and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Maintain cash flow, post cash receipts, and manage banking relations.
- Manage leases, rental receivables, and payments.
- Manage UMOS’ commercial insurance alongside the General Counsel Department.
- Administer month-end tasks, including earned revenue, salary accrual, fringe benefits entries, and related monthly close.
- Prepare tax reporting for property tax payments, low-income housing tax returns, and other annual reporting.
- Facilitate and manage UMOS’ financial audit and prepare audited financial statements.
- Maintain and participate in ongoing department activities that comprise the Company’s internal control environment, with a focus on Uniform Guidance 2 CFR regulations for nonprofits.
- Prepare monthly Analysis of Cost Allocation Reporting.
- Complete other projects and duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Financial Officer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field required.
- Four or more years of general accounting experience, preferably in grant and/or nonprofit organizations.
- Two or more years of leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in teams.
- Experience with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required, along with proficiency in other Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize workload.
- Able to travel and work irregular hours occasionally; ability to work additional hours as necessary.

- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
- Occasionally required to drive.
- Frequently exposed to moderate temperatures in a controlled environment.
- Noise level is usually quiet to moderate.

Pay
$72,916.00 to $94,696.00 per year (exempt, depending on experience).
