About the role
The employee reports to the Controller and is part of the Accounting Department, assisting the Controller in daily department activities.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all aspects of accounting for the general ledger (GL), accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP) functions, as well as other assigned duties.
- Directly supervise the payroll function and the payroll coordinator.
- Responsible for the accounting of all subsidized housing and rental calculations in accordance with HUD regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- Five years of relevant experience, including supervisory experience.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and establish/maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Working knowledge of personal computers, MS Office, and accounting software.
- Knowledge of GAAP, principles of financial administration, including budgeting and reporting.
- Ability to prepare a variety of financial statements and reports and to perform financial analyses.
- Familiarity with Great Plains and Ultimate Software (preferred but not required).
