About the Role

An O’Reilly Auto Parts corporate accounting internship offers students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in and learn about non-public, industry accounting. This internship runs for the length of one school semester and takes place in the spring and fall semesters. Generally, spring semester internships run from mid-January to early-May, and fall semester internships run from late-August to early-December. The internship requires students to consistently work 22 hours per week (Monday – Friday) through the entirety of the semester.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with team’s day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent service to customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Follow team procedures and learn company databases.
  • Review, validate, and prepare data updates for entry.
  • Perform clerical duties and organize documents.
  • Fulfill customer requests provided by senior team members.
  • Scan and index files to meet record retention requirements.
  • Provide suggestions and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Attend team and department meetings, including observation of a budget to actual meeting.
  • Shadow a staff accountant.
  • Participate in team building activities.
  • Meet with department leaders and engage with corporate accounting and tax team members.
  • Listen to quarterly earnings calls.
  • All other ad hoc tasks and projects, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Junior or senior accounting major at an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Schedule
