Accounting FUll Time Tenure Track Faculty

About the Role

The Accounting Department at Harper College is seeking a full-time faculty member specializing in Accounting. The successful candidate will teach a broad spectrum of courses, including introductory-level accounting and upper-level courses such as Intermediate Accounting I and II, Cost Accounting, and others. The program prepares students for careers in bookkeeping, tax specializations, transfer to baccalaureate degrees, or post-baccalaureate certificates for CPA/CMA exams.

The college provides excellent facilities, including classrooms with smart podiums and computer labs. Instruction may take place in face-to-face, online, blended, and flex formats, with opportunities to teach in the Honors Program, Social Justice Studies Program, and Learning Communities Program.

Responsibilities

• Teach 30 contact hours per academic year (15 per semester) in the Accounting Department.
• Serve on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees.
• Hold six office hours per week (some on campus).
• Pursue professional development opportunities related to discipline and pedagogy.
• Teach courses in various modalities, including day, evening, weekend, in-person, blended, and online formats.
• Potential reassigned time for chair/coordinator duties.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in accounting or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Accounting.
• Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Two years of college-level teaching experience (community college experience strongly preferred).
• Equivalent of one year’s full-time non-teaching work experience in the field (two years preferred).

Schedule

• 9-month contract period (faculty fiscal year).
• Evening and weekend instruction may be required.
• Classes may be offered in day, evening, and/or online modalities.
