Accounting FUll Time Tenure Track Faculty
About the Role
The Accounting Department at Harper College is seeking a full-time faculty member specializing in Accounting. The successful candidate will teach a broad spectrum of courses, including introductory-level accounting and upper-level courses such as Intermediate Accounting I and II, Cost Accounting, and others. The program prepares students for careers in bookkeeping, tax specializations, transfer to baccalaureate degrees, or post-baccalaureate certificates for CPA/CMA exams.
The college provides excellent facilities, including classrooms with smart podiums and computer labs. Instruction may take place in face-to-face, online, blended, and flex formats, with opportunities to teach in the Honors Program, Social Justice Studies Program, and Learning Communities Program.
Responsibilities
- Teach 30 contact hours per academic year (15 per semester) in the Accounting Department.
- Serve on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees.
- Hold six office hours per week (some on campus).
- Pursue professional development opportunities related to discipline and pedagogy.
- Teach courses in various modalities, including day, evening, weekend, in-person, blended, and online formats.
- Potential reassigned time for chair/coordinator duties.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in accounting or a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in Accounting.
- Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Two years of college-level teaching experience (community college experience strongly preferred).
- Equivalent of one year’s full-time non-teaching work experience in the field (two years preferred).
Schedule
- 9-month contract period (faculty fiscal year).
- Evening and weekend instruction may be required.
- Classes may be offered in day, evening, and/or online modalities.
