About the Role
The Accounting Coordinator supports Trailhead Community Health Foundation’s day-to-day accounting and finance operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and supporting timely reporting. This role works closely with the Controller on general ledger maintenance, monthly and year-end close activities, and related administrative coordination. The position also supports payroll, benefits, onboarding documentation, and employee records.
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining the general accounting system for the Foundation, including the general ledger and related schedules.
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank deposits, and journal entries with appropriate documentation and approvals.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, investment, and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with maintaining accurate accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds, including donor and grant activity.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Assist the Controller with preparation for the annual audit, the Foundation’s IRS Form 990, and other required federal and state filings.
- Provide administrative support related to payroll, benefits, onboarding documentation, and employee records in coordination with leadership and external providers.
- Maintain organized employee files and confidential administrative records.
- Support onboarding and offboarding documentation checklists and related coordination.
- Assist with payroll administration and coordinate with the payroll service provider as needed.
- Support benefits-related administration, including enrollments, changes, and renewal documentation.
- Track routine administrative deadlines, required acknowledgements, and related documentation.
- Provide financial and administrative support for special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of accounting support, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, or related finance administration experience required; nonprofit experience preferred.
- Experience supporting payroll, benefits, or confidential administrative records is a plus.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working independently in a startup or growth-stage environment.
Pay
$55,000, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The Accounting Coordinator position follows a hybrid schedule based in Akron, Ohio, with remote work up to two days per week, including Fridays. Standard hours are 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
