Responsibilities
- Working with other members of the accounting department to compile, analyze, and report financial data.
- Making journal or ledger entries.
- Acting as a point of contact between internal departments and accounting, serving as a liaison between accounting and external parties, including clients, suppliers, and lenders.
- Staying current on the company, local, state, and federal financial regulations and policies.
- Generating and sending accurate, timely invoices to clients.
- Posting payments (checks, ACH, credit card) to customer accounts and reconciling the AR ledger.
- Reviewing aging reports, calling or emailing customers regarding overdue invoices, and negotiating payment plans.
- Investigating short payments, unauthorized deductions, or disputed invoices.
- Producing monthly reports on delinquency and the status of AR accounts.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in accounting, finance, or clerical work, often 1–3 years in a similar role.
- Familiarity with basic bookkeeping, debits/credits, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Strong communication skills for customer interaction, high attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
