Position Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Contractor with experience in Patient Financial Services (PFS) / Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) to support teams in designing and validating AI solutions for backend billing, denials, accounts receivable, payment reconciliation, underpayments, and self-pay workflows.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering teams to translate PFS workflows into system logic and AI requirements.
- Suggest on billing, denial management, AR follow-up, underpayment identification, payment posting, reconciliation, and self-pay AR.
- Elaborate payer policies, contract terms, fee schedules, denial codes, timely filing rules, and escalation thresholds.
- Develop workflow documentation, policies, procedures, templates, and reference materials for AI solutions.
- Review AI-generated appeal drafts, dispute packages, classifications, and recommendations for operational accuracy.
- Define quality standards, judgment criteria, exception scenarios, and human-review thresholds.
- Identify gaps between proposed system logic and actual PFS operations.
- Participate in working sessions, product demonstrations, testing, and pressure-testing activities.
- Help evaluate AR aging, collection probability, write-offs, adjustments, refunds, and credit balance resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Good experience in backend PFS, medical billing, denials, AR follow-up, underpayments, payment posting, or claims operations.
- 10+ years of experience: Account Reconciliation Cloud Services (ARCS) and medical billing.
- 6–9 years of experience: Allscripts EHR and RCM.
- Strong knowledge of CARC/RARC codes, payer contracts, fee schedules, appeal deadlines, 835/837 transactions, AR aging, COB, and write-off classification.
- Understanding of 271 eligibility responses, 277CA acknowledgments, clearinghouse rejections, claim edits, and upstream billing impacts.
- Experience with self-pay AR, statement cycles, payment plans, and bad debt classification.
- Familiarity with Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, Meditech, Athena, and EHR-based PFS work queues.
- Ability to assess AI-generated work product using supervisor-level judgment.
- Prior experience with RCM automation, AI, or transformation initiatives is preferred.
