Accounting Clerk - Part Time

About the role

Center for Hope and Safety, located in Bergen County NJ, is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting survivors of domestic violence and their children. We believe every person has the right to be safe, empowered and free from violence. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for managing financial documents for the Accounting Department, including filing, copying, and scanning, as well as performing other administrative tasks to support the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all accounting-related administrative tasks
• File all payables and receivables by vendor
• File all fundraising batches by day/month
• Assist with gathering materials for all grant reporting and the audit
• Maintain bank statements in both scan form (digital) and appropriate binders
• Make deposits at the bank as needed
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all survivor, employee, donor, volunteer, and organizational information
• Demonstrate professionalism, cultural humility, and respect in all interactions
• Support the Center's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and survivor empowerment
• Perform other duties as assigned to support agency operations and the evolving needs of survivors

Requirements

• HS Diploma required; higher degree preferred
• Minimum one (1) year experience in accounting/bookkeeping preferred
• Experience with nonprofit software highly preferred, or must be willing to learn
• Driver's license required
