About the role
The Accounting Clerk assists with financial disbursements to clients and vendors, and handles copying and filing of accounting documents.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain filing system
- Input approved journal entries utilizing the Lawson accounting system
- Review Financial Assistance Requests for compliance
- Review Approved for Payment Vouchers (AFP)
- Prepare on-site checks as needed
- Assist the Program Director with reconciling the petty-cash funds
- Handle special projects as assigned by the Program Director
- Attend Department and Program meetings as directed
- Support the Program Director with other projects as assigned
Requirements
- One year of accounting experience
- AA Degree preferred
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions
- Conduct home visits and outreach within NYC at least 50% of the time, using public transportation or traversing city streets, occasionally ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions
- Ability to work with the public
- Ability to position boxes/items weighing up to 25 lbs at different levels
- Remain stationary at a workstation and use a computer at least 50% of the time
- Potential to carry a laptop to offsite work locations
Schedule
Full-time position, generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines or client needs.
Pay
$19.25 - $24.74 per hour (non-exempt), based on a 35-hour work week, or $35,000 - $45,000 annually.
