Position Summary
Reporting to a Supervisor in the Court Records Department, the Accounting Clerk 7 performs accounting duties to facilitate the collection, recording of financial transactions, and disbursement of funds received by the Department of Court Records.
Duties
- Enters data into related systems accurately, ensures completeness, and corrects errors as needed.
- Generates, using simple inquiry data inputs, Common Please Case Management CPCMS reports.
- Reconciles the daily cashier’s work receipts and sessions to prepare the daily bank deposits.
- Prepares general ledger entries to record the financial transactions of the office.
- Creates customer receipts accurately; Uses receipts to generate and reconcile when needed, end-of-day balances.
- Maintains a log of unclaimed property to escheat to the Commonwealth; maintains escrow accounts and drawdown accounts.
- Processes Automatic Clearing House (ACH) payments.
- Performs other related duties as requested or required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of:
- Bookkeeping/accounting principles and procedures.
- Data entry procedures and related office practices.
- Skill in:
- Basic computer proficiency including Windows-based programs.
- Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Accounting software package/s.
- Ability to:
- Provide excellent customer service assistance in person and over the phone.
- Work under general supervision; follow oral and written instructions.
- Collaborate, cooperate, and interact effectively with all stakeholders (e.g., internal and external customers, management, and peers, etc.).
- Accurately and promptly enter data into a personal computer.
- Proofread and verify data.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Learn to use new computer software as required.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Minimum Requirements
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of office experience which includes bookkeeping experience and/or using accounting software and applying math and fiscal skills.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
- An Associate's degree in accounting or a related field.
- An Accounting certificate.
