About the Role

The Accounting Auditor is responsible for conducting all gaming and non-gaming revenue audits for the property. The Auditor completes audits in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company standards, policies, procedures, minimum internal control standards, and system of internal controls. This role performs the first-line review of all transactions posted to the general ledger related to gaming and non-gaming revenue audits. Ongoing training is provided to prepare for the Accounting Auditor II position.

Responsibilities

  • Redefine hospitality at Graton Resort & Casino while living, supporting, and promoting company values.
  • Ensure adherence to all confidentiality requirements regarding verbal or documented information.
  • Maintain integrity in all aspects of the audit process and perform assignments professionally.
  • Act as a team player in a team-oriented environment to ensure accurate and timely completion of all audits.
  • Verify that all revenues/expenses are supported by properly authorized documentation and recorded to the proper account; review account balances in the ERP system at predetermined frequencies.
  • Generate reports from various systems of records depending on the audit being conducted.
  • Review and verify all reports, documentation, and supporting information for completeness, authenticity, authorization, and accuracy.
  • Audit tax forms related to gambling winnings (W2G, 1042-S, and 1099-MISC) and ensure accuracy in the tax system for tax filings.
  • Create, edit, and update Excel spreadsheets, and verify balances to reports.
  • Review audit results/spreadsheets for reasonability and investigate unexpected or unreasonable deviations; investigate discrepancies or cash variances exceeding predetermined thresholds and report results to management.
  • Prepare exception reports in the electronic system for violations noted during audits and send them to appropriate departments.
  • Communicate professionally via email, phone, or other necessary communication methods with department leadership teams to assist in audit-related questions or documentation gathering.
  • Adhere to all company and department policies and procedures.
  • Scan, file, and log accounting documents.
  • Compile documents for proper storage and perform other general office and accounting projects as directed by management.
