The Accounting Associate role is a foundational finance position within a growing, remote-first business environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Record and classify financial transactions using accrual accounting principles, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain daily cash flow and support liquidity planning for ongoing operations.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices while tracking payments and managing collections for accounts receivable.
- Aid in accounts payable processing, including vendor invoice management and payment preparation.
- Support weekly revenue recognition in line with applicable accounting standards and policies.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist in preparing financial reports, supporting schedules, and internal documentation.
- Maintain organized financial records and ensure proper documentation retention.
- Process payroll for the company and selected clients as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and financial controls.
- Support ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects as needed.
Requirements include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience/certification considered).
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance operations with increasing responsibility.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with accounting software such as Wave (preferred), QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage Intacct.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs).
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to meet deadlines independently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial data.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
