The Accounting Associate role is a foundational finance position within a growing, remote-first business environment. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Record and classify financial transactions using accrual accounting principles, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  2. Maintain daily cash flow and support liquidity planning for ongoing operations.
  3. Prepare and issue customer invoices while tracking payments and managing collections for accounts receivable.
  4. Aid in accounts payable processing, including vendor invoice management and payment preparation.
  5. Support weekly revenue recognition in line with applicable accounting standards and policies.
  6. Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
  7. Assist in preparing financial reports, supporting schedules, and internal documentation.
  8. Maintain organized financial records and ensure proper documentation retention.
  9. Process payroll for the company and selected clients as required.
  10. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and financial controls.
  11. Support ad-hoc accounting tasks and projects as needed.

Requirements include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience/certification considered).
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance operations with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with accounting software such as Wave (preferred), QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage Intacct.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUPs).
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to meet deadlines independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential financial data.
  • A self-starter mindset with the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
