About the Role

Grant Thornton is seeking an Accounting Advisory Services Managing Director to join our team in New York, NY, with additional approved locations in Dallas, TX, Melville, NY, and Iselin, NJ. As a Managing Director, you will lead teams consulting with clients on complex accounting transactions, navigate technical matters, and improve business processes. You will build relationships with clients and teams, provide substantiated advice, and contribute to the firm's growth and your career development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support multiple engagement teams in completing divestiture solutions, including evaluating carve-out readiness, supporting 100-day planning, operational transitions, and business separations.
  • Support SEC regulatory filings for carve-outs and facilitate the preparation of carve-out financials.
  • Identify market trends to proactively solve problems and advise clients and colleagues.
  • Assist audit teams in evaluating accounting policies for new, significant, or complex matters.
  • Train and supervise less experienced colleagues, providing regular feedback.
  • Work at client sites, in the office, or remotely, with flexibility to meet client and team needs.
  • Represent Grant Thornton at recruiting and professional networking events.
  • Build technical and professional skills through formal training.
  • Meet business development metrics for managed revenue, new sales, and cross-selling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or related field; master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of twelve years of experience in financial statement audits, accounting advisory, or similar transaction advisory consulting, with deep expertise in the asset management industry.
  • Active CPA license (required).
  • Proficiency in US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and standards.
  • Specialized knowledge in areas like ASC 606, ASC 842, financial instruments, IPO processes, or complex debt and equity topics.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities.
  • Experience in selling new work and driving revenue.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 80% on short notice.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in the Firm’s New York, NY, and Melville, NY offices is between $263,300 and $438,800.
