About the role

Grant Thornton is seeking an Accounting Advisory Services Managing Director to join our team in New York, NY. Additional approved locations include Dallas, TX, Melville, NY, and Iselin, NJ.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support multiple engagement teams to complete divestiture solutions — from evaluating carve-out readiness, supporting the 100-day planning and operational transition, and assisting in the separation of the business — for financial sponsors and corporate clients
  • Support SEC regulatory filings for carve-outs and facilitate the preparation of carve-out financials
  • Identify market trends to be a proactive problem solver and sought-after adviser to clients and colleagues
  • Assist audit teams in evaluating accounting policies related to new, significant, or complex accounting-related matters
  • Train and supervise less experienced colleagues and provide consistent, regular feedback
  • Represent Grant Thornton at recruiting and professional networking events
  • Build your technical and professional skills through formal training
  • Meet business development metrics for managed revenue, new sales and cross-selling

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, mathematics, or related disciplines; a master’s degree is a plus
  • Minimum of twelve years of experience providing financial statement audits, accounting advisory, or similar transaction advisory consulting services with deep experience in the asset management industry
  • An active CPA license (required)
  • Analytical, technical skills, including proficiency in US GAAP, SEC reporting rules and standards; accounting, transaction or mergers and acquisition services
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to be a sought-after adviser in specialized knowledge areas like ASC 606 and/or ASC 842, financial instruments, IPO process or other capital transactions, or complex debt, equity and employee compensation topics
  • Experience managing multiple engagements and competing priorities
  • Ability to sell new work and drive revenue

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Can travel on short notice (Travel expectation: could be up to 80%)
