ACCOUNTANT TRAINEE

About the role

The California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) is seeking an Accountant Trainee to join our team. Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program (PLP 2025) was implemented, requiring a 3% reduction in pay for 5 hours of leave credits monthly through June 2027. The position is a 12-month limited term role, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining financial records and reports.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements.
• Oversee budget preparation and monitoring.
• Support audits and compliance activities.
• Provide administrative support to the finance department.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include:

• I Equivalent to graduation from college, with specialization in accounting.
• Or II Completion of a prescribed professional accounting curriculum.
• Or III Completion of 19 semester hours of professional accounting courses.

Qualifications

Additional requirements include:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills

Desirable skills include:

• Experience with financial software.
• Knowledge of state government regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

The starting salary for this position is $4,442.00 - $5,296.00 per month.
