ACCOUNTANT TRAINEE
Under direct supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer, the Accountant Trainee will attain a strong knowledge of practices, policies, and procedures of the Accounting Office.
Responsibilities
- Review information and process data according to applicable rules and procedures of the Trust/Support functions of the Accounting Office.
- Accurately record, receipt, track, and log paperwork, forms, and other information.
- Attain knowledge of all Support and Trust functions of the Accounting Office.
- Perform additional duties and functions as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of educational courses as specified in the Class Specification (see Minimum Requirements section).
- Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
- If meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.
- Applicants with foreign degrees/transcripts must obtain and submit verification of U.S. course/degree equivalency (e.g., through NACES).
- New hires must submit to a background investigation, including Live Scan Fingerprinting, and a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by annual testing thereafter.
- CDCR/CCHCS utilizes E-Verify to confirm candidate’s identity and employment authorization.

Pay
$4,442.00 - $5,296.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
- 12-month limited term position; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
- Full-time, in-office role.
- Work Shift: 0800-1600 (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
- Work Week: Monday-Friday.
