About the Role
The Senior Accountant is the first in-house accounting hire, reporting directly to the Head of Finance and supporting the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, tax, compliance, and audit activities. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards while contributing to the continued growth of the finance organization.

Responsibilities
- Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Summarize financial information through detailed analysis and reporting.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc financial reports for management.
- Analyze accounting data and present meaningful financial insights.
- Support accurate and timely financial reporting processes.
- Maintain compliance with company accounting policies and standards.
- General Ledger & Accounting Operations:
- Perform general ledger accounting activities.
- Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries.
- Manage accounting transactions and financial records.
- Process periodic financial closings.
- Aid in preparing financial statement data.
- Maintain accurate accounting documentation and records.
- Audit, Compliance & Tax Support:
- Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
- Participate in audit activities with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support tax and regulatory compliance processes.
- Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Maintain accounting records that support audit readiness.
- Aid with compliance reporting and financial controls.
- Financial Analysis & Planning:
- Prepare budget forecasts and financial projections.
- Perform financial analysis to support business decision-making.
- Identify trends and opportunities through financial data analysis.
- Aid leadership with financial planning initiatives.
- Support ongoing process improvements within finance operations.
- Contribute analytical insights to support company growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Head of Finance on strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal departments to support financial operations.
- Communicate financial information clearly to stakeholders.
- Complete additional accounting responsibilities as assigned.
- Contribute to a collaborative and high-performance finance team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Three to five years of accounting experience in a medium or large organization.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting.
- Public accounting experience.
- Experience supporting audits, tax, and compliance activities.
- Experience preparing financial statements and budget forecasts.
- Experience working in high-growth or startup environments.
