About the Role
As an Accounting Specialist at Oncor, you’ll act as a liaison coordinating with financial planning and field associates’ users supporting financial applications inquiries. This role requires the ability to interpret and communicate the requirements and constraints for both groups.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and support financial applications and sub-ledger processes.
- Understand process flows to manage batch processing, jobs, and recovery.
- Support allocation processes and loadings.
- Complete work within Sarbanes Oxley Compliance (SOX), General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Key accounting controls.
- Support Company Accounting Policies and Procedures.
- Support financial close processes.
- Provide rate case support as needed.
- Perform troubleshooting activities, provide training, assistance, and support for end users for all financial applications.
- Interface with cross-functional personnel to identify, resolve, and report financial application processing issues.
- Understand PeopleSoft setups for each module to assist outsourced and internal service.
- Participate in financial application upgrades and enhancements.
Skills
- Working knowledge of financial applications.
- Intermediate knowledge of system query language (SQL).
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting principles.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and sound decision-making capabilities.
- Advanced knowledge and experience utilizing techniques for business process analysis.
- Flexibility/ability to work in a changing environment.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize own work.
- Effectively share knowledge of accounting and system processes with others.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance & Accounting is required.
- Applicants with Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certifications encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with understanding of the electric utility business encouraged to apply.

- Thorough understanding of business systems, accounting, business processes, and process flows.

- Timely and accurate internal and external reporting.
- Timely and accurate recording, analyzing, and reporting of balance sheet and income statement transactions.

Salary Range: $100,999 - $134,666
