About the Role
This position is in the Corporate Accounting department, primarily responsible for maintaining accounting records in accordance with applicable requirements and preparing financial statements in a complex environment. The role may also support the Controller’s Area, which includes Corporate Accounting, External Reporting, Accounting Systems, Plant Accounting, Energy Settlements, and Tax. Flexibility to adapt to new environments and job assignments, along with the ability to quickly learn new processes, is essential.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP, FERC, and SEC requirements.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Assist in the preparation of various regulatory compliance reports, including FERC Form 1, ACC reports, and SEC reports (Form 10-Q and Form 10-K).
- Complete and review responses to regulatory data requests and rate case adjustments.
- Partner with internal and external departments to provide business support, including financial data and analysis for decision-making.
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing audit-ready workpapers, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Monitor regulatory rule-making bodies (e.g., FASB, SEC, FERC) to identify and implement new requirements.
- Develop and document new accounting procedures and modifications to existing procedures.
- Use Oracle Financials, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to develop reports and supporting schedules.
- Participate in special projects requiring accounting and financial analysis skills, such as due diligence work and systems testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting with a minimum of 24 units of accounting from an accredited institution.
- For Accountant II: 2 years of accounting experience.
- For Senior Accountant: 4 years of related accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- CPA preferred.

- Accountant II:
- Research specific activities to determine appropriate financial statement classification.
- Prepare basic consolidated financial statements.

- Provide financial data and analysis to other departments.
- Manage small to medium projects independently or collaboratively.
- Senior Accountant:
- Lead complex research, analysis, compliance, and multi-level consolidation projects.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and assist other accountants on large projects.
- Direct and review work prepared by others.
- Provide advice and training to less experienced accountants.
