Accountant II - Back Office

Summary

This role is a contract-to-hire position responsible for monthly closing, preparing, and analyzing financial reports including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements and reporting them to the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

- Monthly accounting activities including but not limited to Accounts receivable/Accounts payable processing, Fixed Assets, Prepaid amortization. - Bank reconciliation - Sales tax exemption certificate process and sales tax filings - Assist in reporting monthly Financial Statement (BS/ PL/CF), including journal entries and account reconciliations - Assist in reporting monthly Inventory calculation - Assist in reporting quarterly financial statement to Shareholders (Mitsui Tokyo) - Assist in internal & external audit request for information - Assist in preparation of tax return - Assists in internal control assessment and improvement - Assists in creating, updating and analyzing budget and forecast - Communicates with concerned personnel within the company, parent company, external auditor / tax advisor / accounting advisor, project partner / vendor to complete tasks - Assist with other activities as needed

Required Skills & Abilities

- Strong analytical mindset to understand business substance supports accounting judgment in non-routine situations. - Ability to work with large datasets, identify relevant information, and carry analysis through with responsibility and follow through. - Able to work independently or with little or no supervision, responsively and initiatively. - Basic business skills and knowledge (understanding normal business flow and ability to understand business documents such as contracts, invoices, and official letters). - Motivation to learn complex accounting areas such as fixed assets, revenue recognition for power generation, hedge accounting, and long-term contract valuation, with guidance. - System experience with Microsoft Dynamics, preferred. - Proficient in Microsoft Excel, includes Power Query (use of AI support is acceptable), and optimize worksheets. - Able to look for improving process and productivity, and to work independently with attention to detail. - Ability to communicate effectively, including explaining accounting conclusions and data analysis. - Ability to adapt to a cross-cultural environment.

Education & Experience

- More than 2 years direct experience in Accounting required. - Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field required.

- Fluent verbal and written skills in English.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Physical demands include: - Prolonged periods of sitting and may need to routinely move around to communicate with different groups.
