Accountant II
Your Role In The Mission
We are looking for an Accountant II to support core accounting operations, month-end close execution, financial reporting, audit readiness, and internal control compliance as the company scales toward public-company readiness. In this role, you will prepare and analyze accounting records, support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, maintain reconciliations, and help ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with U.S. GAAP and company policies. You will work closely with Finance, Accounting, FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, and Operations to support financial accuracy, improve processes, and strengthen controls. This is an individual contributor role with meaningful ownership of assigned accounting areas and visibility into public-company readiness initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support Month-End Close & Core Accounting: Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries. Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Assist with accounting for accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, leases, payroll, and other assigned areas. Maintain accounting records in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Support Reporting, Audit & SOX Readiness: Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting. Assist with balance sheet reviews and variance analysis. Support external audit requests and prepare PBC documentation. Participate in SOX documentation, control execution, and testing activities. Help ensure accounting processes are consistent with internal control requirements.
- Improve Processes & Partner Cross-Functionally: Partner with FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, and Operations teams to improve financial processes. Support implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives. Develop and maintain accounting process documentation. Help strengthen financial controls and improve scalability as the company grows. Partner with cross-functional teams to support organizational objectives.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience supporting month-end close and general ledger activities.
- Knowledge of account reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation.
- Understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance concepts.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Proficiency with NetSuite and financial reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Nice to Have
- CPA preferred.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience in a high-growth, private equity-backed, or pre-IPO environment preferred.
What Success Looks Like
You will help maintain accurate, complete, and timely accounting records that support reliable financial reporting and decision-making. Assigned close activities, reconciliations, schedules, and audit support are completed accurately and within established deadlines. You will also help strengthen accounting processes, improve documentation, and support internal control readiness as the company continues to scale.
